Systems:

When you buy a 2bular exhaust product, you can be confident in the design and construction. R&D is a very important part of the design stage.

The silencers are packed with the most up-to-date materials available. These can withstand the very high temperatures present in a mid-engined install and the very high gas-speeds of a Supercharged motor. It amazes me that some supposedly high-quality exhaust manufacturers still do not know how to pack their silencers!

111R Elise silencer internal layout Looking at the layout of the 111R silencer; it’s a std Z-flow with the gas entering at the bottom tube into the large expansion chamber. This chamber ensures any “character” to the exhaust note is wiped out. The flow is then reversed along the upper tube to the small chamber on the right. Both ends of the silencer are packed with absorbent material to cut down on drone. If you’ve ever removed this system, you’ll hear this melted material rattling around maraca-style! Poor quality material – used by a number of “quality” manufacturers!

Completing the Z, the gas then has to pass back through the mesh panel before exiting through the small dia tailpipe sections. Now, you’ll notice there isn’t a bend in sight, yet it can be difficult to achieve any real power gains over this set-up. Look at the gas flow/path, definitely not your smooth flowing exhaust beloved by the forum “experts”!

We’re dealing with a hot GAS, it will go anywhere, with minimum of effort.
