VX220 Turbo:

I’ve brought production of the VX exhausts in-house.

I use a 3” bore on the VXT – it’s the best bore for power AND torque but the mapping is crucial to this.
The largest diameter silencer I can comfortably fit inside the rear clam of these cars is a 7”dia. I recall the prototype system I made had a 7”dia x 18” silencer and it runs 92dbs with a de-cat! Depends on the power output of course – more power, more NOISE.

The std 2bular VXT system will have a 7”dia x 24” silencer – the lightest available on the market (by far!) and no need to re-pack. Provided you know what you’re doing, a turbo exhaust is a pussy-cat on packing. Cat/De-Cat swap is easy. The 2bular Sports Cats are the largest on the market – 130mm dia – and well-proven on some very hi-powered VX installs.

VX220 Supercharged:

The 2bular system is probably fitted to more hi-powered SC 2zz-ge installs than any other exhaust –with no packing issues.  I have to use the 8”dia x 24” silencer to meet trackday noise limits but this won’t fit in the VX! For this install, I have a new profile silencer and new design, straight-thru baffle. This is the lightest system on the market and there’s no drone.

It’s quieter than the 8”(!) and will take all the punishment you can throw at it on a trackday – no need to re-pack – ever.

The 2bular VX SC system and downpipe has a 3” bore  and I’m hoping to revive the 2” bore 4-1 manifold – a must for big-power +300bhp SC installs.
I think a Silenced De-Cat Pipe will be needed on +350/400bhp installs – a Sports Cat does help but it’s not the best at silencing. Details soon.

VX220 N/A:

Again, this install is a pussy-cat on exhaust packing – there is no reason to fit a heavy re-packable system. What I’ve found is the 2.5” bore works very well performance/noise-wise, on the n/a motor,  (it is a big 4-pot after all), so I’ll stick to that bore.  I may vary the length/profile of the silencer. It really depends on the power output. There’s no point in adding unnecessary weight.

I still have the pattern for the long-branch 4-1 manifold for this install, depending on demand, I might bring it to market for those owners looking to optimise their tuning.
